Philips collects first AAC weekly award of the season

WEST POINT, Ga. (Nov. 8, 2021) – Xavier Philips won two individual events and anchored a winning relay team in the Point University men's swim team's meet over the weekend, and his efforts earned him recognition as the Appalachian Athletic Conference men's swimmer of the week. The league office made the announcement Monday.

Philips won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52.48 and won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.22. Philips joined Jaxon Kite, Ben Miller and Josiah Blair to win the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:24.86.

This is Philips' first AAC weekly award of his career and the swim program's first-ever AAC weekly award recipient.

Point's next competition will be in Columbus, Georgia, Nov. 19-20, as they host the Georgia Small College Championships.
