Men’s Soccer falls to #19 Florida National in Home Opener

WEST POINT, Ga. (Sept. 11, 2023) - The Point University Men's Soccer team took the field for their nonconference home opener against the #19 ranked Florida National, where the Skyhawks fell 4-1.

The Skyhawks got the momentum going when Jacob Illmer scored the first goal of the game, which gave Point the early 1-0 lead. The Conquistadors responded with their offensive attack by tying the game at one. The Skyhawks continued to attack on the offensive end. Still, the Conquistadors started to elevate on the defensive side, which also helped their chemistry on offense to get their second goal before going into the break.

Going into the second half, The Skyhawks continued to find ways to attack Florida National but would not be successful on goal. The Conquistadors started to elevate more on offense when they scored their third goal to lead 3-1. With Point, the comeback attempt was still a plan as the Skyhawks kept taking shots on goal and trying to get their guys involved in the matchup. Florida National finished the game with a final goal to win 4-1.
