Men’s Lacrosse drops season finale to #2 Reinhardt University

WEST POINT, Ga. (Apr. 15, 2023)- The Point University Men's Lacrosse Team took the field against the #2 ranked Reinhardt University Eagles in a season finale Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup where the Skyhawks fell 24-4.

Reinhardt got the game going by taking the first two scores within the first two minutes of the game, and the momentum would not stop there. The Eagles pushed Point's defense to the limit with offensive attacks and firepower as the Eagles tacked on three more goals to take a 5-0 lead. The Skyhawks' offense was unable to respond to the hot start from Reinhardt, with Point being held scoreless for the first period while the Eagles ended the quarter with an 8-0 lead.

Point's offense started to pick up steam as Shaun McLaughlin gave Point their first score in the second period of the game. Jeff Knapp followed with another score for the Skyhawks, which motivated Point to create defense stops by matching the Eagles' energy. Jamison Cross added to the offensive building, scoring the third goal for Point to trail 10-3. Reinhardt would not leave the period empty-handed as Ethan Lux breezed past the defense to give the Eagles an 11-3 lead at the half.

Malyke Sillers started the third quarter with a score to help Point move closer to wiping away the Eagles' lead, but Reinhardt turned it up a notch in the second half. This goal would mark the final goal of the game as the Eagles scored the following five goals in the third period to lead 16-5 and would stop their firepower as Reinhardt finished the game by scoring the following eight goals to go on a 13-0 run to win 24-4.
