Individual Finishes

Quote from Head Coach Maddux Lytle

"First off, I'm extremely proud of the team as a whole. All 18 guys were out there competing, and all of them did it with their heads up! After round one, I told the top five guys that we just need to be patient. It's such a simple and common concept in golf, but that's exactly where we lost shots on day one and why we found ourselves behind. It seemed like they tried to force good shots or attempt to force putts to fall. That led to some frustration and, in turn, some not-great golf. Today, we got off to a strong start. We hit a little bump mid-way through but remained patient and rebounded quickly. They did a great job focusing on the "next shot" and letting the good shots and good holes come to them. Down the stretch, these guys played incredible. Especially knowing they had to finish strong to get the win. Two of our freshmen (Michael and Jan Hendrick) led the way today, both posting under-par rounds in just their second collegiate round. That says a ton to me about their abilities and excites me for their future and our future as a program. It's always great to start the year with a win, and I believe it helps spike our players' confidence. Again, I am super proud of their grit and performance and cannot wait to compete again next week."
