Point Women’s Flag Football clipped at home by Keiser

WEST POINT, Ga. (Feb. 29, 2024) - The Point University Women's Flag Football team returned to action at the River Bowl stadium for a home Sun Conference matchup against Keiser University where the Skyhawks fell 52-6. 

The Seahawks opened the first quarter with a quick pass to the back of the endzone to open the scoring column. Keiser followed on their first defensive drive with a pick-six to bring their lead to 14-0. The Skyhawks looked to respond on the following drive by moving the ball but Keiser jumped in front another pass in the air which led to the touchdown in the red zone. Point was able to stop their conversion attempt from the Seahawks to now trail 20-0. Point ended the first quarter scoreless as the Seahawks opened their final drive of the quarter with a deep ball to the endzone for a touchdown to stretch their lead to 26-0. 

The Skyhawks opened the second quarter with Maddy Motz making the defense guess as she connected with Jordan Palmer for a 26-yard touchdown. Point would be unable to convert on the one-point conversion to keep the score at 26-6. The Seahawks continued to lean on the passing game as Brianna Ramirez sprinted past the secondary for the 37-yard touchdown. Keiser ended the first half with another deep pass for a touchdown to lead at the break 40-6. Point opened the second half with multiple quick passes to the likes of Jordan Palmer and Leah Prather to move the ball. Keiser's defense would be able to stop the drive and hold the Skyhawks scoreless in the second half while adding two more touchdowns to end the game with a final score of 52-6. 

In the Box 

Maddy Motz led the passing game going 12-for-15 with 71 passing yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Motz also led the team in rushing with eight rushes for 42 yards. Jordan Palmer led the receiving core with six receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown. Palmer also followed by leading the defense with five tackles (flag pulls) on the day.

The Point University Women's Flag Football will return to action in Waleska, Georgia as the Skyhawks will participate in the Reinhardt Invitational on Friday, March 15th, and conclude on Saturday, March 16th.
