Point Football prevails against Union for the homecoming win

The Skyhawks' offense took the field first with hopes of getting on the scoreboard but would be forced to punt after a quick three and out from Union's defense. The Bulldogs' offense took the field, and they opened the gate with a 30-yard pass completion, and then two plays later, they followed that with a 17-yard completion. Those quick plays put them inside the 25-yard line, but Point's defense held Union out of the endzone, which forced the Bulldogs to kick a field goal. The field goal was good to now put Union on the scoreboard first with a 3-0 lead. Point's next offensive was riddled with penalties which sent them off the field quickly to give Union the ball back. On the first play of the Bulldog's offensive drive, Davyon Dukes created the first turnover for Point's defense with an interception and returned it for 15 yards. The Skyhawks' offense was unable to make the most of the opportunity, as their next drive was filled with more penalties. The next turnover in the game came from Point's offense when Union forced a fumble to recover inside the 30-yard line. Union was able to make their offensive drive worthwhile as Taji Jackson scored on a 10-yard run which boosted the Bulldogs' score to 10-0.

At the start of the second quarter, The Skyhawks' offense took the ball inside the 30-yard line and was on a mission to clean up their early mistakes. Nadir Mitchell created multiple positive runs on the drive, which helped drive the ball inside Union territory. With it being 3rd and five, Mitchell Gossett used his legs to get the first down for the Skyhawks, which was then followed by a Nadir Mitchell 11-yard touchdown run. The point-after try was missed by the Skyhawks to now trail 10-6 in the second quarter. Point's defense took the field, and two positive gains from Union took the Bulldogs to midfield. The Bulldogs would not be able to move the ball as Point forced another to give their offense a chance to try to take the lead. Point's offense started to find its rhythm as D'Ontae Eatmon and Mitchell Gossett led the charge on moving the ball. Their drive would come to an end when the Skyhawks fumbled for the second time as the Bulldogs recovered. With Union on offense and inside the ten, they looked to extend their lead by getting into the endzone but could not move past the resilient defense of Point. The Bulldogs looked to attempt a field goal but would miss keeping their lead at 10-6. As the Skyhawks looked for one last drive before the half, they were unable to push the needle much of a positive gain, and Union forced their third turnover with an interception to end the half.

Union took the ball first in the third quarter and used their time of possession to their advantage. A mixture of the run-pass option game from the Bulldogs put themselves in scoring territory inside the 20. Point's defense came up with the key stop to force a field goal which was made by Union to now lead 13-6. Point's offense went to their ground game on the next drive, which was led by Shiloh Addo-Nobles and D'Ontae Eatmon. Their positive runs helped open the offense as Mitchell Gossett connected with Jared Posey on an 18-yard touchdown. Quinn Vega's field goal was good to now tie the game at 13.

With the final quarter in play, crunch time entered the stadium for both teams. The Skyhawks started the period with a stop on defense but would be unable to move the ball on their next offensive possession. Both teams continued to hold their ground in this defensive matchup, but that would change for Point when they created the light that was needed with under six minutes left. The Skyhawks looked to rush their way into the endzone but would be stopped on the 14-yard line, which forced them to kick the field goal. Quinn Vega made his moment in Ram Stadium by converting the field goal to give the Skyhawks their first lead of the game with a score of 16-13. Union took the field with a mindset to open their passing game up and find holes in Point's defense. Myron Norfleet completed four big passes to help the Bulldogs get three crucial first downs. With under 40 seconds left, the Bulldogs were out of field goal range and would have to take their final two chances in the air, but Point's secondary leveled up to force the turnover on downs. Resulting from that, Coach Forest sent out the victory formation to take the final knee, which gave Point their first win in AAC play and second win of the season.
