MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Nov. 13, 2024) - The Southern States Athletic Conference announced Postseason honors ahead of the SSAC Volleyball Championships where the Skyhawks were featured in categories such as All-Conference, Champions of Character, and Barnes & Noble All-Academic.
First Team All-Conference: Tianna Kynard
The Sophomore from Phenix City, Alabama came into the 2024 season with a new attitude which displayed on the court. Through the training of Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Brad Bonner, Kynard added a new explosiveness to her game like never before. Head Coach Faith Gineris instilled more trust in Kynard as she started in 22 matches as the Middle Blocker. On September 9, 2024, Tianna Kynard was named the SSAC Defender of the Week after an explosive weekend where she added nine blocks in the win over Faulkner. Kynard followed with six blocks in the match against the University of Mobile, totaling 15 blocks through two matches. Through two seasons, Tianna Kynard has climbed the ranks where she is #5 all-time for most total blocks (138) and third all-time for most assisted blocks (103). Tianna Kynard's growth through her two years now adds a Defender of the Week Honor and a First Team All-Conference honor.
Second Team All-Conference: Paige Lowe
The Junior from Columbus, Georgia adds another All-Conference honor to her resume for the third consecutive year. Lowe has already created a stacked resume for herself at Point University through her first two years and has continued to stay consistent in her Junior Year. Lowe surpassed 2,000 career assists and is currently 1,360 assists away from surpassing the record. Paige Lowe has continued to show that no matter what rotation or system she is in, she can thrive. Lowe is on pace to be the greatest setter to put on a Skyhawk jersey and already has a resume that many dream of having. Paige Lowe is the second player to receive an All-Conference Honor in the AAC and SSAC throughout her career.
Second Team All-Conference: Jordan Palmer
The Graduate from Statesboro, Georgia has continued to build pieces to the puzzle of her stacked resume. Palmer adds her third consecutive All-Conference award in her career. Jordan Palmer has completed amazing feats such as surpassing 1,000 career digs, Top 10 in Service Aces, and officially holds the crown as the All-Time Digs Leader (1,414). The presence of Jordan Palmer on the court is known as she makes it tough for opponents to get a rhythm on the offensive end. Palmer's hustle and leadership is engrained through everyone's spirit as she has helped Point have an identity to not give up on the defensive end. As Palmer makes her final appearance as an active player at the conference tournament, she looks to add a few accomplishments to her already impressive resume by helping the team bring home a championship.
Champions of Character: Janie Marie Messer
Janie Marie Messer is a player who believes in doing right by the team and going by the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship. When Janie Marie Messer is not singing in church or building her future career as a teacher, Messer is adding a hyped spirit to the team on and off the court. Messer has shown versatility as a setter and is willing to dive on the court for a dig or pancake to keep the set going. The Senior from Phenix City, Alabama has also been a driving force of keeping the sideline as loud as possible with creative chants. It is a no-brainer for Janie Marie Messer to have been selected as the Champions of Character for Point Volleyball as she exemplifies the five core values.
