Point Volleyball tames Faulkner on Senior Night

WEST POINT, Ga. (Nov. 1, 2024)—The Point University Volleyball team returned to the court for their regular season home finale, a Friday night Southern States Athletic Conference match against Faulkner University. The Skyhawks won in four sets. 

Both opponents traded scores to get the feel of the first set until the Skyhawks capitalized, with Kayla Johnson and Jadakate Judkins waking up the gym with multiple kills to lead 14-11. Point continued to feed off the home crowd energy, with Vanessa Aponte and Ava Clay being in the right place for the assisted block. The Skyhawk offense ramped up with Jasmyn Ceasar levitating for the kill, followed by a service ace from Claire Cordell. Point's momentum displayed with Emma Parker ending set one with a service ace to put the Eagles in a bind. Faulkner regained their focus in set two by opening with a 10-2 run to neutralize Point. The Skyhawks looked to go on a run, with Kayla Johnson and Jasmyn Ceasar adding two consecutive kills to bring the score to 21-15. Faulkner could hold their lead in the second set and finish with a score of 25-17. The Skyhawks went into set three with Tianna Kynard adding two kills and Paige Lowe following with a service ace. The run for Point continued to display with their offense being led by Claire Cordell and Jadakate Judkins, extending their lead to 15-8. The Skyhawks would not give up their lead through the set, as Point's offense was enough to cruise past the Eagles to go up two sets. The Skyhawks brought the energy with multiple blocks and a kill from Ava Clay. Faulkner could not match the firepower of the Skyhawks, which was enough to win in four sets. 

In the Box 

Claire Cordell and Jasmyn Ceasar led with nine kills. Kayla Johnson and Tianna Kynard followed with eight kills, while Ava Clay contributed with seven. Paige Lowe led with 29 assists, and Janie Marie Messer followed with 16 assists. Jordan Palmer led defensively with 16 digs. 

Milestone Reached 

Today's win helped Faith Gineris add 54 Career wins, the most wins as a head coach in Program History.
