
Women’s Soccer drops SSAC Opener to the Knights
WEST POINT, Ga. (Sept. 18, 2024) - The Point University Women's Soccer returned to the pitch for an evening Southern States Athletic Conference matchup against Middle Georgia State University where the Skyhawks fell to the Knights with a final score of 2-0.
The first half opened with both opponents looking to get on the scoreboard first. The Knights took an early shot on goal but Lisa Kelm would stay put to keep the score at zero. Point's defense continued to keep Middle Georgia's offense with stagnant play as their final two of the first half were unsuccessful. Both opponents continued to push for a score which saw the Knights take the lead with the first score of the evening. The Knights added to their momentum with another score to extend the lead to 2-0. The Skyhawks looked to make a late comeback but Middle Georgia was able to shut out the Skyhawks to win with a final score of 2-0.
In the Box
Middle Georgia outshot Point with 21 shots and 11 on goal compared to the Skyhawks' seven total and five on goal. Lorelei Lewis, Isabella Frullaney, and Alyssa Bennett each took a shot on goal. In goal, Lisa Kelm added eight saves in the contest.
