Point Women’s Soccer falls to Brenau in Road nonconference matchup
GAINESVILLE, Ga. (Aug. 29, 2024) - The Point Women's Soccer team returned to the pitch to take on former Appalachian Athletic Conference foe, Brenau University in an evening nonconference game where the Skyhawks fell to the Golden Tigers with a final score of 2-0.
Within the first three minutes, Brenau started fast with the game-opening goal to take the early 1-0 lead. The Skyhawks looked to return the favor with Bailey Turner and Isabella Frullaney taking shots on goal. The Golden Tigers made two consecutive saves to keep Point scoreless. As Brenau looked to continue to attack, Lisa Kelm added multiple saves in goal to keep the score 1-0 going into the half. The second half opened with Point looking to tie the game with an early high shot on goal. Brenau added to their lead with a second-half goal to lead 2-0. Point looked to find momentum on the field but would be held scoreless for the remainder of the second half to fall to the Golden Tigers with a final score of 2-0.

Brenau outshot Point with 19 total shots and seven on goal compared to the Skyhawks' four total and two (Bailey Turner and Isabella Frullaney) on goal. In goal, Lisa Kelm made the start and added five saves on the evening.
