Women’s Soccer drops road contest to Bryan

DAYTON, Tenn. (Sept. 4, 2023) - The Point University Women's Soccer team continued their Tennessee road trip as the Skyhawks traveled to Dayton, Tennessee, for a road matchup against former Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Bryan College. The Lions ended up victorious over the Skyhawks with a final score of 3-0.

The Skyhawks got the first half going as Andrea Rodriguez and Hannah Delp took two early shots on goal. Though unsuccessful, Point continued to get their offense going on the quick shots. Bryan College retaliated with a shot that ended up being the contest's first goal as the Lions took the 1-0 lead. As the half continued, the Lions built their momentum by adding another goal to take the two-point lead. Point looked to take the first half back into their hands, but the Lions' defense started to slow the Skyhawks down, which resulted in the third goal by the Lions to lead 3-0. This would be the last goal of the half and gave Bryan the edge going into the break.

The Skyhawks came into the second half with a quick start as Karina Quiroz and Lorelei Lewis each took a shot on goal. The Lions continued not to give an inch as Goalie Alyssa Karnes racked up a save from each shot on goal taken by the Skyhawks. Bryan College would hold onto their lead and prevented Point from making a second-half comeback to take the win.
