Burkhardt earns AAC weekly recognition

WEST POINT, Ga. (Nov. 8, 2021) – Erica Burkhardt of the Point University women's soccer team, for the first time in her career, has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The league made the announcement on Monday.

Burkhardt helped lead Point to a 2-1 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan in the quarterfinal round of the AAC tournament. Burkhardt made seven saves against an aggressive Bulldog offense.

With Point's victory over TWU, the Skyhawks advance to the semifinal round of the AAC tournament for the first time since 2014.

Burkhardt is No. 3 in the conference with 100 saves on the season. In the month of October, Burkhardt recorded five shutouts and only gave up six goals in 10 games.

The Skyhawks are currently on a seven-game win streak.

Point will compete against Reinhardt on Wednesday, Nov. 10, in the semifinal round of the AAC tournament, in Waleska, Georgia. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
