Point Women's Basketball Ends Season to Blue Mountain in SSAC Tournament Play-In

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Feb. 26th, 2025) - In a pivotal Southern States Athletic Conference match-up, the Point University Skyhawks faced a tough defeat against the Blue Mountain Christian Toppers with a final score of 55-44. 
 
Despite a strong start that saw Point University leading in the early quarters, the Skyhawks could not maintain their momentum against the strategic plays by the Toppers. Jada Williams, a standout performer, led the Skyhawks with 19 points and showed her defensive skills by tallying 4 steals. The match saw Antonia Pittman contributing significantly with 4 assists, and Zaria Johnson dominated the boards with an impressive 20 rebounds. 
 
The game began promisingly for the Skyhawks, taking an early lead in the first period with a layup and a three-pointer by Jada Williams. The Skyhawks concluded the first quarter ahead 15-11. However, the tide turned in the second quarter as Blue Mountain Christian responded strongly, ending the halftime with a 30-20 lead. 
 
The third period saw the Toppers extending their advantage, pushing their lead to 18 points. Despite a valiant effort and a late surge in the fourth quarter, including key plays by Azarriah Brown and continuous scoring from Jada Williams and Antonia Pittman, the Skyhawks could not overturn the deficit. The game concluded with Blue Mountain Christian securing a 55-44 victory.

Jada Williams led with 19 points, four rebounds, and four steals and Antonia Pittman followed with 14 points, four rebounds, four assists, and one steal. Zaria Johnson added four points, 20 rebounds, two steals, and three blocks.  

Up Next: 

The Skyhawks have wrapped up their 2024-25 Season following the loss from Blue Mountain University and will now focus on preparing for the 2025-26 season with their third year slated in the conference.
