
Zaria Johnson adds her second SSAC Defensive Player of the Week Honor
WEST POINT, Ga. (Dec. 16, 2024)—The Southern States Athletic Conference announced weekly awards on Monday, December 16th, and Zaria Johnson earned her second SSAC Defensive Player of the Week award of the season.
The Junior from Montgomery, Alabama added a double-double with 10 points, 13 rebounds, and, three blocks in a non-conference matchup against Truett-McConnell University on Saturday, December 14th. Johnson has recorded at least one blocked shot in all nine games she has played and currently leads the SSAC in Blocks per game with 2.8. Zaria Johnson also leads the conference in Rebounds with 12.7 per game and has grabbed double-digit rebounds in eight out of nine games. Johnson's fit to the team with the leadership of Alexis Tate has helped her become a top defender in the league and a tough player to shoot over. Johnson looks to continue her consistent play on the court as the Women's Basketball travels to Carolina University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina for a nonconference matchup on Wednesday, December 16th at 3:00 P.M.
