
Women's Basketball falls to Truett-McConnell in tight matchup
CLEVELAND, Ga (Dec. 14, 2024) - The Point University Women's Basketball team returned to the hardwood on the road in a nonconference matchup against Truett McConnell University where the Skyhawks fell to the Bears in a final score of 61-56.
The first quarter started hot for both teams with constant back-and-forth scoring with Jada Williams and Shakira Wilson leading the way for the Skyhawks. The second quarter was mostly Bears scoring and pulling away to end the first half 33-18.
As the third quarter started Truett McConnell continued the same trend as the second quarter, not letting off the gas and growing the lead to as big as 19. As the third quarter went on, a valiant offensive effort from Zaria Johnson and Lanee Edwards to help cut the lead down to nine points at the end of the third quarter 46-37. The final quarter was flashes of the first three quarters where the Bears grew their lead and the Skyhawks attempted to claw back ending the game 61-56.
In the Box
Jada Williams led the Skyhawks with 14 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Zaria Johnson and Shakira Wilson both scored 10 points.
