Women's Basketball Clawed by the Panthers

WEST POINT, Ga. (Dec. 4th, 2024)—The Point University Women's Basketball team returned to the court in a nonconference matchup against NCAA Division III,  Lagrange College. The Skyhawks fell short in an intense game that ended in a final score of 73-58. 

Both teams continuously traded baskets during the first half and kept a tight score fighting for the lead. Antonia Pittman dropped back-to-back buckets in the first half allowing the Skyhawks to keep a close battle with the Panthers until the end, 34-31. 

During the start of the second half, the Skyhawks still held out strong thanks to Lanee Edwards with seven points in the third quarter and six in the fourth. Jada Williams was quick on her feet to disrupt the Panthers' offense with five steals throughout the game offering the Skyhawks more opportunities to score. Although Point fought hard to stay in the lead, during the last quarter, the Skyhawks lost their steam and the game concluded with a final score of 73-58.

In the Box:

Lanee Edwards led with 18 points, five rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Antonia Pittman followed with 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals, and Zaria Johnson added nine points, 12 rebounds, one assist, one steal, and three blocks.

Point will return to the West Point, Georgia court on Saturday, December 7th, 2024, at Noon., to take on Thomas University.
