Women's Basketball falls to the Toppers in Home SSAC Play

WEST POINT, Ga. (Nov. 21st, 2024) - The Point University Women's Basketball team returned to the court in a Southern States Athletic Conference matchup against Blue Mountain where the Skyhawks fell short in a final score of 69-57. 

Zaria Johnson added to the scoreboard first with a layup and the Toppers answered back quickly with a layup of their own.  As the first half went on baskets were being traded to keep it close with either team unable to pull away. Shakira Wilson dropped buckets in the first half aiding the Skyhawks in a close battle with the Toppers until the end, 31- 24.

As the second half began the Toppers erupted to an early ten-point lead. Zaria Johnson led the charge for the Skyhawks as she attempted to aid and minimize the damage. The Toppers kept the lead all the way to end the game 69-57.

 

In the Box:

Shakira Wilson led with 16 points, three rebounds, one assist, and two steals. Zaria Johnson followed with a double-double with 14 points, 14 rebounds, two assists, and one block, and Jada Williams added nine points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Point will travel to Cochran, Georgia., on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024, at noon, to take on Middle Georgia State.
