Women’s Basketball Falls to the Barons in SSAC Opener

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. (Nov. 14th, 2024) - The Point University Women's basketball team traveled to Brewton-Parker to compete in a Southern States Athletic Conference matchup against the Barons. The Skyhawks fell to the Barons with a final score of 86-52. 

Zaria Johnson, the first to add points to the scoreboard in the first quarter, started the game off strong. However, the Barons continued to keep the lead through the following period. During the start of the second quarter, the Skyhawks began to gain traction but lost their steam as the quarter continued. The Barons remained in control throughout the rest of the game despite Point's effort to add points. As a result, the game ended with a final score of 86-52.

In the Box:

Lanee Edwards led with 13 points and five rebounds. Shakira Wilson added 12 points, four rebounds, and one steal and Zaria Johnson followed with a double-double with 11 points, 13 rebounds, one assist, and one block.

Point will travel to Tifton, Georgia., on Saturday, November 16th, 2024, at noon, to take on Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
