
Skyhawks Down on the Weekend’s Conference Games
WEST POINT, Ga. (April 4 & 5 2025) At challenging outings in West Point, Ga., the Point University Skyhawks suffered losses across all games in two conference matchups against the Faulkner Eagles on April 4 and the Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs on April 5th.
Faulkner Game 1 (9-2)
Despite starting strong and scoring two runs in the first inning through spirited efforts from Kaila Phillips and Taylor Gajdik, the Skyhawks were unable to maintain their early momentum against Faulkner's assertiveness. Leading the offense for the Skyhawks amidst the setback was Kacy Partridge, who earned an RBI, contributing crucially to Point University's initial scoring. Starting pitcher Alyssa Burrows battled through the innings, facing tough competition from Faulkner's lineup.
Faulkner Game 2 (9-3)
The Skyhawks, who played on their home turf, saw an energetic start but couldn't maintain momentum against a strong Faulkner squad. Despite the loss, Point University displayed some commendable individual performances. Kaila Phillips, Kacy Partridge, and Avrianna Wapniewsk each scored runs for the Skyhawks. Notably, Taylor Gajdik contributed 2 RBI's while Chloe Mitcham added one more to their tally.
Chloe Mitcham, who also served as the starting pitcher, faced a challenging day on the mound but managed to make significant contributions to the game. Additionally, Brooke Burkett made an impressive appearance with a double, while Kaila Phillips secured multiple hits, showcasing their offensive skills.
Tennessee Wesleyan Game 1 (Loss 10-5)
Saturday's game against the Bulldogs saw notable performances from several players. Kaila Phillips, Natalie Lovelace, Taylor Gajdik, Savana Bryant, and Avrianna Wapniewski all scored runs, contributing to Point University's tally on the scoreboard. Taylor Gajdik and Savanna Bryant, who drove in three runs, were particularly instrumental in bolstering the team's offensive efforts.
Tennessee Wesleyan Game 2 (Loss 3-2)
Game two showcased Alyssa Burrows, the starting pitcher for Point, as she delivered a commendable performance by pitching the entire game across 7 innings. She allowed only 3 runs on 2 hits while striking out 2 players from the opponent's side. Key contributions also came from Isabella Owens and Taylor Gajdik, who scored the runs for the Skyhawks. Meanwhile, Savanna Bryant and Kacy Partridge contributed significantly by recording runs batted in.
