
Skyhawks Face Setback Against Blue Mountain Lady Toppers
WEST POINT, Ga. (March 29, 2025) - The Point University Softball team faced a challenging matchup against the Blue Mountain Lady Toppers in a critical conference game. Despite a strong defensive performance, the Skyhawks were unable to overcome their opponents, falling 3-0 in the first game and 7-1 in the second.
Game One (3-0, Loss)
The highlight for Point University came in the sixth inning, marked by an impressive defensive stand. With two outs and runners threatening to score, the Skyhawks managed to halt Blue Mountain's advance, showcasing their resilient spirit under pressure. Alyssa Burrows, starting pitcher for the day, played a pivotal role, maintaining composure in high-stakes situations throughout the game.
Game Two (7-1, Loss)
In a challenging conference softball showdown, the Point University Skyhawks fell to the Blue Mountain Lady Toppers with a final score of 7-1. The game highlighted the grit of the Skyhawks, despite the tough loss against their conference rivals.
The Skyhawks witnessed a promising start as Kaila Phillips scored in the first inning, bolstered by Taylor Gajdik's skillful RBI. Chloe Mitcham took the mound as the starting pitcher for Point University, delivering a strong performance in the early stages of the game. The first inning's run, resulting from a well-executed hit by Gajdik that allowed Phillips to cross home plate, initially signaled a strong game for the Skyhawks. Yet, momentum shifted as the Lady Toppers took control, leaving the Skyhawks unable to add more runs to the scoreboard.
