
Point Skyhawks Fall to Abraham Baldwin
TIFTON, Ga. (March 1st, 2025) - In a closely contested conference battle, the Point University Skyhawks were edged out by the Abraham Baldwin Fillies with a final scoreboard reading 4-3 and 6-3 in favor of the opposition. This clash saw the Skyhawks showing strong form, yet falling just short of a win.
Game 1 (4-3, Loss)
The game featured starting pitcher Chloe Mitcham, who delivered a commendable performance on the mound for the Skyhawks. Throughout the event, the offense was spearheaded by Taylor Gajdik, Sarah Hinely, and Kendall Holbrook, each scoring a run to keep the Skyhawks in competitive stance. On the RBI front, contributions came from Taylor Gajdik, Kacy Partridge, and Savanna Bryant, each adding crucial runs to the Skyhawks' tally.
Despite their efforts, the Skyhawks could not clinch the win as the Fillies managed to secure a narrow lead to seal their victory.
Game Two (6-3, Loss)
The Skyhawks faced a tough contest against the Fillies, resulting in a 6-3 loss.
The Skyhawks saw contributions from several key players. Ansley Joiner, Kacy Partridge, and Savanna Bryant all crossed the plate, scoring once each, energizing the team throughout the game. The bats also got some help from players driving in the runs. Isabella Owens, MaKenzie Gilliland, and Kendall Holbrook were instrumental, with Owens especially notable for her standout performance that included 2 hits and an RBI.
The game's critical point came in the later innings. After Point University gained momentum with three runs in the third inning, the Fillies took control of the game in the sixth inning, putting up four runs to secure their lead. Alyssa Burrows, the starting pitcher for the Skyhawks, fought diligently on the mound to keep her team in contention.
