Point University Skyhawks Fall to Middle Georgia State in Conference Clash

WEST POINT, Ga. (Feb. 21st, 2025) – In a challenging conference game, the Point University Skyhawks faced a tough defeat against Middle Georgia State with a final score of 11-3 in the first game and 9-6 in the second game. Despite the loss, the Skyhawks displayed commendable performance with contributions from various team members. 

 

Game One (11-3, Loss)

 
The match-up took place on their home turf, where Point University players Taylor Gajdik, Isabella Owens, and Kaila Phillips made significant efforts by scoring runs to keep the team competitive. Taylor Gajdik and Savanna Bryant were noted for their RBI's, pushing the Skyhawks' offense even in difficult moments. Starting pitcher Chloe Mitcham took the mound for Point, giving her best against a strong Knights' lineup. 
 

Game Two (9-6, Loss) 

The Skyhawks fell short against the Knights with a final score of 9-6 in the second match. The game saw the Skyhawks initially take a promising lead but ultimately succumb to a powerful comeback by the Knights. 
 
The Skyhawks, led by starters like Isabella Owens, Taylor Gajdik, Mackenzie Diaz, Savanna Bryant, and Kaila Phillips who all crossed the plate during the game, showed strong signs of team synergy and individual skill. Kacy Partridge notably stood out by driving in three runs, demonstrating her offensive capabilities amidst the intense play. Alyssa Burrows started on the mound for Point University, facing a challenging Knights lineup. 
 
The early innings of the game set a competitive tone, with Point University jumping ahead with three runs in the top of the 1st inning. However, the Knights responded in the bottom of the 2nd, tying the game at three all. The decisive moment came in the 7th inning when Middle Georgia staged a significant offensive effort, securing five runs that would lead them to victory despite the Skyhawks' efforts.
