
Alyssa Burrows’ Stellar Collegiate Debut earns her SSAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
WEST POINT, Ga. (Feb. 5, 2024) - The Southern States Athletic Conference announced Softball awards on Monday, February 5th where Freshman Pitcher, Alyssa Burrows was named SSAC Pitcher of the Week.
The Freshman from Valley, Alabama made her collegiate debut against NCAA Division III, Lagrange College on Saturday, February 3rd and she did not disappoint. Burrows was the starting pitcher in Game One of the Doubleheader and pitched six innings with nine strikeouts and only walked one. Burrows also earned her first win with a shutout to her stat line in her first game. Alyssa Burrows is a player who is expected to continue growing in the historic program of Point Softball and is thought highly of by her peers. In her postgame interview on Saturday, she mentioned that she was nervous but after the first pitch, she felt great. This is the first weekly honor for Alyssa Burrows along with her first collegiate award.
The Skyhawks will return to action to prove their case of growth throughout the season on Wednesday, February 7th against Stillman College at home with the first game starting at 3:00 P.M.
