Point Cross Country Releases their 2023 Fall Schedule

WEST POINT, Ga. (July 26, 2023) - The Point University Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Team has released their schedule for the 2023 Fall Season. The Skyhawks are coming off a season where both the men’s and women’s sides saw improvements throughout the campaign for the young program. The Men’s team placed ninth in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships, and the women’s team placed 12th. For the upcoming season, the Skyhawks will see new faces as they have shifted to the Southern States Athletic Conference and will be led by head coach Caleb Albrecht who enters his third season at the helm. Graduate Assistant Chase Buckelew will join Albrecht as he was recently introduced to Skyhawk Nation and will help the team strive for more greatness in the upcoming season.

The Skyhawks will open their season on the road in Clinton, Mississippi, as Point competes in the Opener meet hosted by Mississippi College. With hopes of starting the season strong, our cross country teams look to build from the first meet by hosting the Point Invitational on September 16th, making it the second consecutive year the Skyhawks have served as the host school for the meet. To end the month of September, Point travels to Morrow, Georgia, for the Alexander ASICS XC Invitational hosted by NCAA Division II Clayton State. The Skyhawk runners will get another shot to get the times they strive for as Point travels to Pulaski, Tennessee, to compete in the Firehawk Invitational hosted by SSAC Opponent, the University of Tennessee Southern. The season's biggest test for the Cross Country program will occur when Point competes in the SSAC Championships on November 4th at Jesse Owens Park. With this being the first year in the new conference, Coach Caleb Albrecht will be excited to see his runners compete and continue to grow the program.
