Point Track and Field finishes Victor Ice Break Duals with high praise

The Skyhawks showed up to the first outdoor track with a standard set in their mind and they followed through. 

Anna Brown started the running events with a massive 36-second PR in the women's 5k, improving her time to 20:19. 

Freshman Lane Thompson followed suit in the men's 5k with a 52-second PR, dropping his time down to 16:29, marking his first time breaking the 17:00 barrier. 

 

De'Andre Wade placed 6th overall, out of 47 competitors in the men's 100m. His time of 11.05 puts him 7th in the NAIA this opening weekend. 

 

In the women's 100, Kyah Campbell set a new personal record of 14.72, and later set another PR in the 200 in a time of 31.00. 

Teammate Ashley Bowden ran two new PRs as well. One in the 400m, with a time of 1:07. 49, and then later on in the 200m in a time of 29.90, making it her first time going under 30 seconds. 

Hakem Hodges set a new PR of 23.92 in the men's 200 improving upon his previous best time of 24.43. 

 

The highlight of the day came in the very last event, the Discus Throw. Sanjuan Warner set a new personal record and school record with a distance of 43.69, beating his old record of 39.86. Warner's throw placed him 3rd out of 30 competitors, beating a large field of DII and DIII opponents. Warner's throw also puts him 4th in the NAIA this opening weekend. 

Warner also competed in the javelin, throwing his second further distance of 40.76. Making him 7th in the NAIA on opening weekend. 

 

Overall the Skyhawks placed 3 top 10 finishers, had 10 new personal records, 1 school record, and 3 NAIA top 10 performances.
