Point Swimming splashes for improvement at the Emmanuel Fall Invite

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. (Oct. 7, 2023) - The Point University Men's and Women's Swim team returned to the pool for the Emmanuel Fall Invite hosted by Emmanuel College, where the Skyhawks made strives with top finishes and new PRs. 

The meet started with the Men's team competing in the 400-yard medley relay, consisting of Josiah Blair, Will Kelly, Logan Jones, and Rayden Hector, which saw the Skyhawks place fourth at 3:45.52. In the Skyhawks' following race, Mitchell Crane represented Point in the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle, where Crane placed sixth with a time of 2:02.50. Madison Akabri competed in the 50 Yard Freestyle, placing third and finishing with a 25.46 time. In the Men's 50 Yard Freestyle, the Skyhawks had four swimmers represent the program during the race. Jasper Mpofu placed fifth with a 22.61 time, Yurii Prokopchuk placed seventh with a 23.52 time, Rayden Hector placed eighth with a 24.27 time, and Luke Johnson placed 10th with a 28.16 time. Teagan Jose competed in the 200-yard IM, placing third at 2:19.46. In the following race, Madison Akbari competed in the 100-yard Butterfly, where she placed fifth and finished with a 1:01.44 time. In the Men's 100 Yard Butterfly, Jasper Mpofu placed sixth with 55.64, and Ignacio Fonseca placed seventh with 56.42. Samantha Pasley placed seventh with a time of 1:15.59 time in the 100 Yard Freestyle. For the Men's 100 Yard Freestyle, Point had five swimmers compete. Mitchell Crane placed fifth with a 53.01 time, Will Kelly placed sixth with a 53.09 time, Ethyn Harris placed seventh with a 53.24 time, Rayden Hector placed eighth with a 53.30 time, and Yurii Prokopchuk placed ninth with a 53.77 time. Gabriella Pinheiro competed in the 100-yard Backstroke, where she placed fifth with a 1:08.51 time, which was better than the projected time. Freshman Logan Jones made strides by placing fourth in the 100-yard Backstroke and finishing with a 59.11 time. Teagan Jose competed in the 100-yard breaststroke, placing third for a 1:11.63 time. For the Men's 100 Yard Breaststroke, Ethyn Harris placed sixth with a 1:05.32 time. Ignacio Fonseca placed seventh with a time of 1:09.03 time, and Luke Johnson placed ninth with a time of 1:1:21.77. The meet finished with the men's and women's teams competing in the 200-yard freestyle relay. On the women's side, the team of Madison Akbari, Gabriella Pinheiro, Samantha Pasley, and Teagan Jose placed fifth with a 1:52.93 time. The Men's team had two relay teams, with the first placing third with a team of Mitchell Crane, Logan Jones, Josiah Blair, and Jasper Mpofu, finishing with 1:31.69 time. The second team with Skyhawk representation placed fourth, with Yurii Prokopchuk, Ignacio Fonseca, Will Kelly, and Ethyn Harris finishing with a 1:35.49 time.
