
Men’s Soccer drops season finale to Faulkner
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Oct. 24, 2024)—The Point University Men's Soccer team returned to the pitch for their season finale in the state capital against Faulkner University. The Skyhawks fell to the Eagles with a final score of 4-1.
The first half opened with both teams looking to enter the scoring column first, but the defense from the Eagles and Skyhawks did enough to keep the match scoreless through the first half. The action picked up in the second half, with Point entering the scoring column first as Joao Sousa Tiago connected with Gihong Kang for the first goal. As the Skyhawks looked to hold Faulkner from the promised land, the Eagles were able to wipe away the lead from Point with four unanswered points to lead 4-1. The momentum proved to be too much for the Skyhawks as Faulkner completed the comeback to finish the game with a win over Point.

Faulkner outshot the Skyhawks with 17 total shots with 10 on goal compared to Point's eight total shots with three on goal. Gihong Kang scored a single goal for the Skyhawks, with Joao Sousa Tiago adding the assist. In goal, Simon Niksch added six saves on the evening.
