
Men’s Soccer adds a road shutout win at Huntingdon
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Sept. 8, 2024) - The Point University Men's Soccer Team returned to the pitch for a nonconference game against NCAA Division III, Huntingdon College where the Skyhawks took the win with a final score of 2-0.
Within the first 18 seconds, the Skyhawks started fast as Etan Aler took a shot on goal. Point continued to put pressure on the Huntingdon defense with continued attempts on goal with hopes of setting up the perfect shot later in the game. The perfect opportunity struck for the Skyhawks as Diogo Palhoto scored the first goal of the game on a penalty kick. The Hawks were unable to add any scoring opportunities in the first half to trail 1-0 at the half to Point.
The Skyhawks opened the second half with continued momentum as Moritz Dalpiaz connected with Gihong Kang on a scored goal to extend Point's lead to 2-0. Huntingdon looked to match the intensity of the Skyhawks but Point's defense would not give an inch which was enough to hold on to win the game in shutout fashion on the road with a final score of 2-0.

The Skyhawks outdueled Huntingdon offensively with 19 total shots with 10 on goal compared to Huntingdon's four total shots with two on goal. Diogo Palhoto and Gihong Kang scored the two goals for the Skyhawks. In goal, Simon Niksch added his second shutout of the season adding two saves.
