Men’s Soccer secures another win past Middle Georgia

COCHRAN, Ga. (Oct. 7, 2023) - The Point University Men's soccer team returned to the field for a Southern States Athletic Conference matchup against Middle Georgia State University to take the 1-0 win past the Knights. 

The first half started with the Skyhawks looking to get their offense going by getting early shots but would be unable to convert. Point's defense remained solid throughout the half, as Callum Thompson did not let a shot go past his peripheral. As the half came to a close, Hwijun Cho took put the Skyhawks ahead with a 1-0 lead. 

The second half began with both teams trying to get their rhythm back in play which fell in the Skyhawks' favor as Point took their offense to taking more shots on goal. The offense of Middle Georgia came to a halt as Point held their lead and did not allow the Knights to score to get their second consecutive win. 

In the box 

Point took 15 shots with four on goal compared to the Knights' five shots with four on goal. Hwijun Cho scored the single goal for Point which was assisted by Zane Whitehead. Callum Thompson made the start at goalkeeper and finished with four saves.

Point will continue their road trip as the Skyhawks will end their three-game road trip against Thomas University on Saturday, Oct. 14, starting at 3:30 P.M.
