Men's soccer falls to Rams in season finale

Bluefield, Va. (Oct. 29, 2022) - The Point University men's soccer team took a trip over to Bluefield, Va. Saturday afternoon to square off against Bluefield University in a conference matchup and fell 2-1 in their season finale.

Both the Rams and the Skyhawks kept pace with each other throughout the first half. Bluefield finally got one into the net at the forty-fourth minute of the matchup. The goal was an own goal which gave the Rams a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Point's very own, Fabian Saborio got a goal across in the sixty-second minute to tie the contest up at one goal each. Saborio looked to score again in the seventy-fourth minute, when his shot on goal was saved by Rams goalie, Jake Mendoza. The Rams ended up finding the back of the net on Alexander Zimmerman's shot, with an assist by Michael Gutu in the seventy-sixth minute. The Rams would hold on for a 2-1 victory over the Skyhawks.

In the box 

Bluefield University outshot Point 8-7 with two shots on goal compared to the Skyhawks who had six. Fabian Saborio lead the Skyhawks with four shots on goal and one goal. The other two shots on goal were by Luca Ganio-Mego and Diego Matarrita. Daniel Oviedo had two shots on goal, with no saves.
