Point Skyhawks Soar Past Oglethorpe Petrels

BROOKHAVEN, Ga. (Feb. 5th, 2025) — In a tightly contested regular season lacrosse matchup, the Point University Skyhawks secured a 9-7 victory over the Oglethorpe Petrels. 
 
With a halftime score setting the pace at 6-4 in favor of Point University, the Skyhawks managed to maintain their lead despite strong opposition from Oglethorpe. Thomas Van Alstine notably led the Point University team, scoring an impressive 4 goals. Not far behind, Jamison Cross added 2 goals to the total. Rodney Oakley, Aaron Mordarski, and Malyke Sillers each contributed a goal. 
 
A critical moment in the game arrived when Aaron Mordarski scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal. Malyke Sillers put the nail in the coffin by scoring one more goal with three minutes left in the game which significantly contributed to the victory. In goal, Aaron Robinson showcased strong defensive skills, contributing to the Skyhawks' ability to edge out their competition. 

In the Box: 

Thomas Van Alstine led with four goals and two groundballs. Rodney Oakley had one goal, six groundballs, and 14 impressive faceoff wins. Jamison Cross followed with two goals and 5 groundballs. Aaron Robinson, as the goalie, had seven saves.

With this victory, Point University's Men's Lacrosse Team moves to a 1-1 record for the season. The Skyhawks are looking ahead to their next game, where they will face Huntingdon in Montgomery, Ala., on February 8th at 2:00 P.M.
