
Point University Lacrosse Faces Setback Against Webber International
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Feb. 1st, 2025) - In a spirited Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup, the Point University Skyhawks faced a challenging test against #2 Webber International University Warriors. The Skyhawks, despite a robust effort in the final quarter, were unable to secure the win, concluding the game with a score of 16-10 in favor of Webber International.
Throughout the match, Thomas Van Alstine and Malyke Sillers led the Skyhawks' offense, each notching three goals. They were well-supported by Rodney Oakley and Shaun McLaughlin, who added two and one goal respectively, with McLaughlin also contributing significantly with three assists. Jamison Cross rounded out the scoring for the Skyhawks with a goal of his own. Aaron Robinson, serving as the primary goalie, faced an intense onslaught from the Warriors' attackers but showed resilience and skill under pressure.
Despite trailing at halftime with a score of 7-4, Point University demonstrated tenacity, particularly in the last quarter where they mounted a strong comeback by scoring five goals. This late rally highlighted their potential and fighting spirit but wasn't enough to overcome the early lead established by Webber International.
