Men’s Lacrosse ends season at the AAC Tournament to #3 Webber

BABSON PARK, Fla. (Apr. 20, 2024) - The Point Men's Lacrosse Team returned to the field for the first round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament against #3 Webber International University where the Skyhawks fell to the Warriors with a final score of 21-5. 

The Skyhawks opened the first quarter taking a 2-1 lead over the Warriors with Thomas Van Alstine and Jamison Cross scored. The Warriors followed with four more goals to end the first period for a 5-2 lead. Webber went on a 10-0 run in the second period while holding the Skyhawks scoreless to go into the break with a 15-2 lead. Webber followed by opening the third quarter with three goals as the Skyhawks halted a run with Shaun McLaughlin adding a third goal for the Skyhawks. As the Warriors ended the third quarter with a score, Point opened the fourth quarter with Shaun McLaughlin scoring two more goals. Webber followed with the following two scores to increase their lead to 21-5. Thomas Van Alstine scored the final goal for the Skyhawks as the game ended with a final score of 21-6. 

In the Box 

Shaun McLaughlin added three scored goals, three shots on goal, one groundball, and one caused turnover. Thomas Van Alstine followed with two goals and Jamison Cross added one goal. In goal, Teagan Simons tallied 23 saves. 

Up Next 

The Men's Lacrosse team has wrapped up their 2024 season with a lot of upsides. The Skyhawks finished 8-10 (3-6 AAC), added the most wins in a season since 2017, made their first postseason appearance since 2017, and their first tournament appearance in the Jordan Coates Era.
