Men’s Lacrosse drops road AAC Contest to #5 Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (Mar. 23, 2024) - The Point University Men's Lacrosse returned to action for an afternoon road Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup against #5 University of the Cumberlands where the Skyhawks fell to the Patriots with a final score of 15-2. 

The Patriots opened the scoring column with their first goal taking the early 1-0 lead. Thomas Van Alstine responded with an unassisted goal to tie the game at 1-1. Cumberlands followed with three scores to end the first period with a 4-1 lead. The Patriots continued neutralizing the Skyhawks on offense and added five goals to extend their lead to 9-1 as both teams went into the half. The Patriots continued their offensive firepower in the third period by adding three scores and not allowing Point to any. The lead grew to 15-1 in the fourth quarter with the Patriots adding three final goals. Jeff Knapp scored the game's final goal for the Skyhawks as Point fell to Cumberlands with a final score of 15-2. 

In the Box 

Jeff Knapp and Thomas Van Alstine led with one goal each. Teagan Simons led with 12 groundballs and Knapp followed with 11. In goal, Simons collected 16 saves on the evening.

The Men's Lacrosse team will return to action for an AAC Matchup with Montreat College which will also be Senior Day for the Skyhawks at the River Bowl Stadium starting at 1:00 P.M. Eastern.
