Men’s Lacrosse falls to Mount Vernon Nazarene in Neutral Site Game

RICHMOND, Ky. (Apr. 6, 2023)- The Point University Men's Lacrosse team returned to action for a non-conference game against Mount Vernon Nazarene in a neutral site game hosted by Eastern Kentucky University where the Skyhawks fell in a tightly contested matchup with a final score of 11-8.

The Cougars jumped on the scoreboard first with quick momentum as MVNU added the first five goals, hoping to shut out the Skyhawks. Point did not let the fast start from the Cougars phase them, as Jeff Knapp scored the first goal for the Skyhawks, which Aaron Mordarski assisted. Mount Vernon Nazarene finished the first quarter by scoring two final goals to lead 7-1.

Jeff Knapp started the second period by scoring the first goal to bring the Skyhawks closer to distance to cut into the Cougars' lead. MNVU did respond with two goals to push their lead further. Knapp scored the final half goal to give Point their third goal. The third period was more of a defensive battle, as both teams scored one goal each. With the score being 10-4, the action picked up in the fourth quarter as Jeff Knapp continued his dominance by scoring the first goal to bring the deficit to five. The defense for Point continued to improve, with the Skyhawks allowing one last score. As time started to get under the 10-minute mark, the Skyhawks looked to push for a comeback, with Malyke Sillers scoring the next goal and Jeff Knapp following with two more goals after that to bring the game within three. Unfortunately, Point's offense would not be able to put in any more goals and would fall to the Cougars in the hard-fought matchup.
