Men’s Lacrosse unable to ice the Knights on the road

LAURINBURG, N.C. (Mar. 4, 2023)- The Point University Men's Lacrosse team returned to the field in a road Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup against St. Andrews University on Saturday afternoon, which saw the Knights gain their first victory against the Skyhawks.

Jeremiah Menzies got the Skyhawks going, putting Point on the scoreboard first to earn his third of the season. The Knights did not fall too far behind as they took the following two scores to wipe away the lead from Point to put them ahead with a 2-1. Point's offense looked to even the score with St. Andrews, which was a success as Malyke Sillers soared past the defense to get Point their second score of the game to end the first quarter tied at two.

The beginning of the second period saw both teams up the ante on the defensive side as the first score would occur until the 4:30 mark when Jeff Knapp scored the goal for Point to put the Skyhawks back in the driver's seat. The Knights' plan to finish the half with an offensive force worked in their favor as they went on a 3-0 run to go into the half, leading 5-3. The third period started with the Skyhawks shaking off the rust on offense to bring their deficit to one. St. Andrews' second half was a strong one for them as the Knights hung five goals on Point, which put the Skyhawks on their heels as they trailed 10-4 to go into the fourth.

The hot momentum from St. Andrews continued to be put on display as the Knights started the quarter with two more goals to extend their lead to eight. Aaron Mordarski halted the Knights' run by adding a score for Point. St. Andrews seemed not to be done yet as the Knights responded with their own score. The Skyhawks fired back on offense when Malyke Sillers added his second goal of the game, followed by Jamison Cross scoring the final goal for the Skyhawks.
