Men’s Lacrosse unable to take down cross-town rival in Lagrange

LAGRANGE, Ga. (Feb. 8, 2023)- The Point University Lacrosse team traveled to Lagrange College for a Wednesday non-conference game against the Panthers.

The Panthers got their night started with a quick goal after the fast ground ball pickup, followed by another goal to lead 2-0. Point did not shy away from the pressure as Malyke Sillers stepped up for Point to respond with a plan to bring their deficit to one. Lagrange ended the quarter in style by scoring their next three goals quickly.

With the score being 5-1, Jamison Cross retaliated for Point at the 11:28 mark to get their second goal of the game and his first goal of the season. Lagrange did not seem fazed as they added to their score but Point continued to hang in there as Malyke Sillers found Jeff Knapp for the goal to bring the score to 6-3 with the Panthers leading. Lagrange did, however, continue their attack on offense by ending the half with two scores to try to bring the game further out of reach for Point.

The Skyhawks were able to add two scores in the third quarter but could contain the Panthers as their momentum continued, with them adding four more scores in the contest. Jeff Knapp would score Point's goals in the third quarter alone. As Lagrange continued to push their lead out of reach for the Skyhawks, they showed no quitting as Shaun McLaughin gave them some hope with his scored goal. Jeff Knapp's hot afternoon continued for Point as he scored the game's final goal, but Lagrange would close out the evening with two more scores to win 17-7.
