Men’s Lacrosse downed by Huntingdon on the road

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Feb. 4, 2023)- The Point Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Huntingdon College on Saturday for a nonconference evening showdown against the Hawks, where they would fall short 25-9.

The Hawks started the game by winning the faceoff and taking a few early shots on goal, which would be unsuccessful, and goalie Kiereek McLeod would force the turnover. Huntingdon did not let that phase them as they would quickly score the first point of the game in the early going. Point did not let the early score get to them as Malyke Sillers added his first goal of the game and third goal of the season to tie the game at one. The Skyhawks would ride this momentum as Jeff Knapp added to his season tally as well by giving Point the lead after he scored the next two goals to now lead 3-1. Huntingdon quickly regrouped as they went on a run of scoring to wipe away Point's lead and ending the quarter with an 8-3 lead.

The Hawks did not waste any time in the second quarter as they scored in the first five seconds, which was followed by six more goals to now lead by 11. Huntingdon's hot run continued to give Point problems as they tacked on three more scores to go into the half with a 17-3 lead. The Skyhawks started the second half with Shaun McLaughin contributing with a goal for Point. Jeff Knapp followed by adding a second goal to his name on the evening. Point seemed to find a way to create more offense as McLaughin did not shy away from the moment by scoring his second goal of the game and his fourth goal of the season. The Hawks froze the comeback effort by adding more scores to their lead, but Malyke Sillers retaliated once more for the Skyhawks.

Entering the fourth period, Malyke Sillers gave the Skyhawks their eighth point of the game to continue his hot day on the evening. The Skyhawks continued to show a fight as Aaron Mordarski scored his first goal of the game. Huntingdon would not allow any other scores from the Skyhawks, as they would take the game with a final score of 25-9.
