Bio

Maddux Lytle is entering his fourth season as head coach of the Point men's golf team. Lytle was promoted to head coach during the summer of 2021 after serving as the assistant coach during the spring of 2021. 

Under Lytle's tenure, the Skyhawks finished the 2021-22 season as No. 7 in the nation after a strong performance at the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship. Lytle was named a finalist for the Dave Williams National Coach of the Year award. Lytle had two team members earn AAC All-Conference recognition; one member was a two-time All-American. 

In the 2022-23 season, Lytle coached the AAC Conference Player of the Year, three first-team all-conference players, and a three-time NAIA All-American. Lytle also coached his team to their sixth consecutive National Championship, where the Skyhawks finished T11 out of 18 Teams in the final round. 

Lytle grew up in Newnan, Georgia, and began playing golf when he was four years old and started to play competitively when he was 10. Lytle competed in the Georgia Golf State Championship five times. His first two appearances were in eighth and ninth grade at the Heritage School, and the final three appearances came while he attended Northgate High School. 

Lytle attended Point University from 2014-2018. He helped lead the team to two conference championships and played at the national championship (2017 & 2018). In 2018, Lytle was a semi-finalist for the prestigious Jack Nicklaus Award. 

Lytle graduated from Point in December 2018 with a degree in Business Administration. Following graduation, Lytle played a professional golf mini-tour before beginning to work at Highland Country Club in LaGrange. He was the Assistant Golf Professional at Highlight until joining the coaching staff at Point.
