#16 Men’s Golf adds All-Conference Honors to their Storied Program

WEST POINT, Ga. (Apr. 22, 2024) - The Southern States Athletic Conference announced postseason honors for Men's Golf where the No. 16 Ranked Men's Golf Team was featured in honors of All-Conference, All-Academic, All-Freshman Team, and Champions of Character. 

Second Team All-Conference: Arrington Mooney 

The Junior from Selma, Alabama has immediately impacted the Men's Golf program. Mooney had his highest individual finish with a top-two finish in the Eagles Fall Invite which helped the Skyhawks win the tournament. Head Coach, Maddux Lytle knew his work ethic would fit the mold with his program and Mooney has taken notice around the Southern States Athletic Conference in his first season with Men's Golf. Mooney mentioned that the main thing that he was looking for when he was finding a school after Junior College was a place that could allow him to be great. Arrington Mooney can now add being an All-Conference Golfer to his resume and is looking to help the Skyhawks push for a National Championship Run. 

Second Team All-Conference: Jacob Joseph 

The Sophomore from Johannesburg, South Africa has continued to add his resume with the Men's Golf Team as he has added his second All-Conference honor in his second year with the Program. Jacob Joseph was a Golfer to watch as he was coming off a First Team All-Conference Season along with a National Championship Appearance. The consistency and leadership from Joseph have continued to add to his resume at Point University. Jacob Joseph was named an SSAC Men's Golfer of the Week during the week of April 2nd as he finished with a T1 finish at the BMCU Spring Classic. Joseph has added Two Golfer of the Week Awards (AAC & SSAC), First Team All-Conference (AAC), Second Team All-Conference (SSAC), and one NAIA National Championship Appearance. 

All-Freshman Team: Hayden Jackson 

The Freshman from Calhoun, Georgia waited for his moment to start traveling with the team and show why his hard work on the course was worth it. Hayden Jackson's second spring tournament saw him add a top-10 finish at the Spring Skyhawk Invite. Jackson continued to prove he could be a vital piece as he shot his best round (68) in the following tournament at the Carey Collegiate. Hayden Jackson's finish followed at the BMCU Spring Invite where he added a T3 finish which helped the Men's Golf team win the tournament. Jackson has never-satisfied attitude has helped coaches around the SSAC notice the impact he can have in his career. 

Champions of Character: Landry Fitzgerald 

The freshman from Dallas, Georgia has been selected for being an example of the five core values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Servant Leadership, and Sportsmanship. This award can never be taken lightly as it is picked for someone who shows character within their sport and in life. Landry Fitzgerald's character can be described in more than five words and with this selection, he will be a player many can look up to.
