
Skyhawks Narrowly Miss Victory in Tense Conference Encounter at West Point Gym
WEST POINT, Ga. ( Feb. 6, 2025) - In a gripping Southern States Athletic Conference basketball game at West Point Gym, the Point University Skyhawks were narrowly defeated by the Brewton-Parker Barons with a final score of 88-92.
From the tip-off the action was intense with both team scoring at will. Mike Evans got the Skyhawks offense started with a jump shot assisted by Vince Graves. Brewton-Parker attempted to pull away but, the continuous hustle of Point University on defense allowed them to create oppurtunities on offense. The halftime score reflecting a tight contest at 41-39 in favor of Brewton-Parker. As the second half began it was more of the same with both teams scoring back and forth with one trying to edge the other. Antwon Ferrell got the Skyhawks fired up offensively the second half coming off the bench scoring 12 points with a clutch layup sending the game into overtime with the score 70-70. As overtime started both teams attempted to get one up on each other ultimately the Barons of Brewton-Parker gain the advatage ending the electric night with a win 92-88.

Antwon Ferrell led the Skyhawks with a double-double 24 Points and 10 rebounds. Jeremiah Smith had a double-double as well with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Mike Evans added 11 points and three key steals.
