Men’s Basketball cruises past the Chargers at home
WEST POINT, Ga. (Dec. 14, 2024)—The Point University Men's Basketball team returned to the court for their final game in 2024, a non-conference matchup against Southeastern Baptist. The Skyhawks won by a final score of 97-35.
The Skyhawks opened the first half on a 16-5 run as Point's offense settled in with fastbreak points and ball movement on offense that turned into great shots. Vince Graves opened the highlight reel with a dunk over the defender to get the hype in the gym going. The Chargers looked to stay within the fight as Southeastern Baptist responded with a three-pointer to trail 20-10. Antwon Ferrell responded with a three-pointer of his own and Jacob Crockett followed with a mid-range jumper to increase the Skyhawk lead to 27-14. The first half continued in Point's favor as Sam Rees and O'Brien Watkins added to the lead with two consecutive triples. The run continued for Point as the Skyhawks ended the half with a 32-1 run. The second half continued in Point's favor as their offense saw many faces get scoring opportunities including Tae Story scoring his first collegiate basket on a fastbreak dunk. With under five minutes left, Ricardo Luis Ortiz splashed a three-pointer and added two free throws to give the Skyhawks their final game scores. Point could cruise past the Chargers with a final score of 97-35.

Vince Graves led with 23 Points, four rebounds, two steals, and one blocked shot. Antwon Ferrell followed with 18 Points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Jacob Crockett added 15 Points, five rebounds, and two assists.

The Skyhawks will return to the court in a non-conference matchup against former Appalachian Athletic Conference for their first game of 2025 against Truett-McConnell University on January 2 starting at 4:00 P.M.
