Men’s Basketball falls to ABAC in road SSAC Play

TIFTON, Ga. (Nov. 16, 2024) - The Point University Men's Basketball team returned to the court for a road Southern States Athletic Conference matchup against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College where the Skyhawks fell to the Stallions with a final score of 75-70. 

The first half opened with the Skyhawks leading 9-4 from a Jeremiah Smith layup and a three-pointer from Tanner Higgins. Point's run continued with Brandon Kincaid adding two free throws from the charity stripe and Tanner Higgins adding his second triple of the half. The Skyhawks extended their lead to 21-9 with a three-pointer from Mike Evans. The Stallions rallied to cut Point's lead to single digits with five minutes left. The Skyhawks were able to hold their lead through the first half with the score being 34-32. 

ABAC opened the second half with a 9-0 run to take the lead. Point halted the run and looked to cut into the lead with back-to-back layups from Jeremiah Smith and Vince Graves. The Stallions extended their lead to 55-45 with a layup and a jump shot. The Skyhawks were able to cut ABAC's lead to single digits with a three-pointer. ABAC followed with adding a 13-point lead but a trifecta of three's from Tanner Higgins cut the Stallion lead to 75-67. A last-second three from Vince Graves cut the ABAC lead to five but the Stallions held on to win with a final score of 75-70. 

In the Box 

Tanner Higgins led with 21 Points and one rebound. Jeremiah Smith followed with 17 Points and four rebounds. Mike Evans followed with nine points and five rebounds.

The Men's Basketball team will return to the court on Monday, November 18th for a non-conference game against NCAA Division II, University of Montevallo starting at 8:00 P.M. Eastern.
