Point Football ends the season with a Senior Day win against St. Andrews

VALLEY, Ala. (Nov. 11, 2023) - The Point University Football team returned to the field for the final time in their 2023 Campaign for a gloomy Saturday afternoon Senior Day matchup on Veteran's Day against St. Andrews University where the Skyhawks took the win 14-0.

The first quarter began with Point's defense continuing their home streak of forcing a turnover on the first play of the drive as San Juan Warner forced a fumble which was recovered by Barry Finley. With great field position, Point's offense put together a scoring drive as the pair of freshmen connected in the endzone with Samir Wylie throwing his first collegiate passing touchdown to Kareem Keye. Matthew Moses would convert on the point after try field goal to bring Point's lead to 7-0. Point's defense continued to show why it is tough to move past them as the Skyhawks did not budge by forcing a turnover on downs. The quarter continued with both teams not allowing another score in the endzone to end the first quarter.

As the second quarter began, Point's offense looked to continue to move the ball which paid dividends but the Knights would halt the drive by blocking the field goal attempt to keep the score at 7-0. St. Andrews followed later in the quarter by forcing a fumble which was recovered by the Knights' defense. Point's defense was again put to the test and passed with flying colors as the Skyhawks kept St. Andrews out of the endzone for the final two drives which saw Point keep their 7-0 at the half.

After the Greater Valley area of Honor Band came together at the half, the action picked back up in the third quarter with both teams forcing a combined three turnovers in the quarter with the Skyhawks succeeding with a score afterward. Shakwan Bickley jumped a pass for the interception to put Point's offense in scoring position which followed with Issac Jones scoring on the goal line. Matthew Moses converted on the field goal to put the Skyhawks ahead 14-0. The fourth quarter continued to see both teams elevate their play as the Skyhawks looked to add to their lead. The Knights would create a stop by getting a rush to get their fingertips on a Matthew Moses field goal to keep the score at 14-0. Point's defense made the crucial stop to wipe away the Knights' chances of getting in the endzone and put the nail in the coffin to secure the win.
