
Point University Football Players highlight AAC All-Conference honors
WEST POINT, Ga. (Nov. 16, 2022) - The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced football awards on Wednesday, Nov. 16. The awards that were announced were Players of the year, Defensive/Offensive Freshman of the Year, All-Conference teams, AAC All-Academic teams, and Champion of Character. The Skyhawks had four players who were honored with AAC First-Team All-Conference, seven players for Second-Team All-Conference, and nine players on the AAC All-Academic team.
AAC Defensive Player of the Year: Aaron Anderson
Anderson was the anchor of the Skyhawks’ defense and recorded 90 total tackles in 11 games. The senior out of Gwinnett, Ga. Also tallied 3.0 sacks along with 12.0 tackles for loss. He had a forced fumble with two fumble recoveries during the season. One of those recoveries resulted in a touchdown by him. Anderson will go down in history at Point as one of the greatest linebackers to step foot on the field.
AAC Defensive Freshman of the Year: Gavin Graham
Gavin Graham came into the program with a major impact in the Trevor Zeiders era. Graham tallied 41 tackles with 3.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss. With the instant impact that he has had, Graham can flourish as the key defensive stopper upfront as he grows more into his own.
