Quan Neal and Giovanni Martinez earn AAC Football Player of the Week honors

WEST POINT, Ga. (Oct. 31, 2022)- Two Skyhawk players from the Point University football team have earned Appalachian Athletic Conference Football player of the week honors. Quan Neal was named AAC Football Defensive Player of the Week, and Giovanni Martinez was named AAC Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 30. 

Neal recorded five tackles and intercepted two passes during the matchup. His second interception helped set up the game-winning field goal for the Skyhawks to win 43-40 vs. Kentucky Christian University. This is the first weekly honor for the senior out of Cedartown, Ga. 

Martinez scored 13 points off three field goals and four PATS. With 2.5 seconds left in the game, he made his moment in Ram Stadium by nailing the game-winning field goal to send the Skyhawks to victory over the Knights with a score of 43-40. This is the second weekly honor of the season for the freshman from Gainesville, Ga. 

The football team will return to action for a road matchup against Reinhardt University in an Appalachian Athletic Conference showdown on Saturday, Nov. 5.
