Skyhawks fall to Bluefield at home

VALLEY, Ala. (Nov. 6, 2021) – Early scoring by the visiting Bluefield Rams proved to be the difference Saturday night, as the Point University football tell fell to Bluefield 30-7 in its final Mid-South Conference Appalachian Division matchup of the season.

The Skyhawks dropped to 2-8 (2-4 MSC) with Saturday's loss, and the Rams advanced to 5-5 (3-2 MSC).

Point entered the second half trailing 23-0 but cut into Bluefield's lead with a touchdown in the third quarter. Quarterback Payton Allen rushed for three yards to get the Skyhawks into the endzone.

This would be all the scoring Bluefield would allow, as they answered Point's touchdown with one of their own following an interception in the fourth quarter by Kedarrius Phina that was returned for a touchdown.

Point accumulated 257 yards on offense, with 184 in the air and 73 on the ground. Allen took all of the snaps for Point and completed 23-of-41 passes.

D'Ontae Eatmon and Sensir Carnes led Point on the ground with nine rush attempts for 41 and 34 yards, respectively. Jacquez Bartley led the Skyhawks in the air with 12 catches for 110 yards.

The Skyhawks' defense was led by Quan Neal, Shakwan Bickley and Ja'Darius Young who recorded seven tackles apiece. Parker Clemons recorded two tackles for loss yards.

Next, Point wraps up its season by hosting St. Thomas on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 1:30 p.m. The Skyhawks will be honoring the members of its senior class before Saturday's game.
