Point University Cheer ready to make noise at weekend competitions

WEST POINT, Ga. (Mar. 7, 2024) -The Point University Cheerleading team will be returning to action for competitions on Friday, March 8th for the Life University Classic and Saturday, March 9th for the Southern States Athletic Conference Championship.  

The Skyhawks opened their competition season with the first matchup in Marietta, Georgia at Life University for a dual with Life University on Saturday, February 24th. The Running Eagles finished the first dual with a score of 88.75 compared to the Skyhawks 74.2. Life went on to improve their first dual score with a score of 89.7. Point added a score of 74 in the second dual score. Point University currently ranks 31st in the nation while averaging a score of 74.73. Looking ahead to the weekend, Friday's competition will feature Point competing in the Life University Classic. Friday night will feature the Southern States Athletic Conference banquet which will announce All-Conference awards, All-Academic, and Champions of Character awards. The following day will feature the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships with seven teams looking to battle for the crown. The teams will be Florida Memorial, Keiser University, Life University, Loyola University-New Orleans, Point University, University of Mobile, and the University of Tennessee Southern. The events will take place in the Life University Eagles Nest in Marietta, Georgia with Prelims starting at 9:00 A.M. Finals will begin at 10:45 A.M. along with awards following at 12:30 P.M.
