Point Baseball falls to Reinhardt in nonconference matchup

WEST POINT, Ga. (Feb. 27, 2024) - The Point University Baseball team returned to the field for a non-conference matchup against former Appalachian Athletic Conference foe, Reinhardt University where the Skyhawks fell 7-2 to the Eagles.

The Eagles opened the game by scoring their first two runs from a single near third base to score their first run and their second run off a wild pitch. Point looked to respond to the quick start from Reinhardt but would be unable to get any hits going. The Eagles' third run came off a home run to left field to bring their lead to 3-0 through four innings. Rafael Jackson would enter the bottom of the inning with a double to left field while showing his lightning speed but the Eagles were able to retire the following two batters from Point. Reinhardt continued to see success at bat as the Eagles added three runs from two singles and one double which scored runners home. The Skyhawks added their first run of the game as Rafael Jackson's sacrifice fly scored Sam Baker. Point followed with another score as Trent Sheppard singled to right field to score Alex Marquand. Reinhardt would be able to add one last run and halt the Skyhawks from scoring to win the game 7-2.
