Baseball downs Buffaloes on Senior Day

WEST POINT, Ga. (April 16, 2022) – Francisco Garcia and Jackson Bush connected for two 2-run home runs to help lift the Point University baseball team to a 6-4 victory over Milligan University Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.

Before Saturday's game, the Point honored the seven members of its senior class: Chase Raines, Dillon Brown, Jakobe Smith, Jeff Rice, Kevin Howard, Alex Williamson and Adam Castillo.

Milligan got on the board first with a run in the top of the second, but Garcia would help Point take the lead in the bottom of the frame with a 2-run home run. Point would extend their lead out in the bottom of the third with an RBI double from Alex Marquand to score Kole Sonnier, followed by a 2-run home run by Bush (5-1).

The Buffaloes would begin to cut into Point's lead with a run in the sixth, and two runs in the eighth, making it a one-run ball game, but a wild pitch in the bottom of the frame would allow II Zadod Gabriel to score to extend Point's lead back out to two (6-4). The Skyhawks held Milligan off the scoreboard in the top of the ninth to earn the series victory.

Point's offense combined for 10 hits, with Brown and Marquand recording two hits apiece. Bush, Howard, Smith, Garcia, Jaysen Dower, and Sonnier recorded a hit. Bush and Garcia had two RBIs apiece and Connor Varnum and Marquand each recorded an RBI.
